SellerCloud is an international online sales and inventory management company with an office in a modern business building in Bulgaria. They contacted us on a recommendation from the technical manager of the building after experiencing acoustic issues on their office floors.
The company had large open office spaces (open space) and several conference rooms where there was a strong echo, noise and chatter. This hindered both communication and concentration in the working environment. Previous experience with installed acoustic panels had not given the desired result, which created initial scepticism in the client towards the effectiveness of a new solution.
On two of the floors, several acoustic panels had already been installed, but they were located only on the columns and were insufficient for the volume of the rooms. This led to a lack of real effect, despite the investment. During our inspection and analyses, it was found that the spaces required a much better balanced and calculated distribution of panels on ceilings and walls. Additionally, the client did not have full confidence that the acoustical treatment would have a measurable effect on the work environment, so they initially chose a medium option out of the four proposed (minimum, medium, semi-medium and maximum).
We performed a complete acoustic software analysis, based on which we proposed four levels of solution with clearly defined results with respect to reverberation time.
The client chose the middle option which included:
White panels were installed on the ceilings to make them visually inconspicuous</span
The installation was organized and executed in working hours, compliant without interrupting the client's teams' activities. Already after the first phase of treatment, employees noticed a sharp difference in acoustic comfort between floors with and without treatment. This led to a second phase in which:</span
The client gave official feedback that employee productivity increased by about 20% after the acoustics were improved, due to fewer distractions, quieter conversations, and better concentration.
The SellerCloud project is illustrative of how well-calculated and properly implemented acoustic treatment can have a direct impact on operational efficiency. Despite initial skepticism, the client was quickly convinced by the results and proceeded with additional treatment, and we are currently planning a new phase of the project related to the expansion of their offices in Bulgaria.
The case clearly demonstrates that partial and non-expert solutions do not work, and well-chosen acoustics make a measurable difference.
