Client

Megatron - leading company in the field of industrial and agricultural machinery, with offices in several major Bulgarian cities and an office in Sofia, near the airport.

Problem

The company contacted us about serious acoustic problems in four main rooms - one large open space used as a kitchen and breakout area, and three conference rooms. Because of the size of the rooms, the hard surfaces used and the lack of sound absorbing materials, there was a strong reverberation effect - noise spread easily, conversations could be heard from a distance and the feeling of comfort was lacking.

Problem Specifics

Conference rooms were used for meetings with internal and external partners, requiring confidentiality and good audibility. At the same time, the large kitchen needed to remain an open and inviting space where employees could relax quietly during their lunch breaks without worrying about noise or echoes.
An additional challenge was the client's desire to retain existing interior solutions, including decorative paintings with photos from their plants in various cities.

Solution

Our engineering team carried out a detailed inspection and acoustic analysis using specialised software. We developed five different visual concepts with specific solutions for each room. The client chose an option with:

  • hexagonal speaker panels for conference rooms

  • Organic, free-form for the dining area

  • Large acoustic picture in the kitchen, divided into three elements, each measuring 2.80 x 1.10 m

Conversion of existing decorative paintings into functional acoustic paintings with printed images, without glass, to eliminate reflections

Execution

The installation of the first elements was carried out on a Saturday so as not to disrupt the office workflow. The Acoustic Force team took care of the precise installation of the hexagonal panels and acoustic paintings. To transform the decorative paintings, we used bespoke wooden frames and high quality acoustic wool on which high resolution images were printed identical to the existing photographs.

Summary

The result is an aesthetically pleasing and effective solution to acoustic problems without compromising the interior. The conference rooms now provide the necessary isolation and quiet for conversations, and in the kitchen employees can enjoy a break without chatter. We are particularly proud that this project was the first time in Bulgaria that a large acoustic picture with a wooden frame, divided into three parts - a unique solution that combines design and functionality.
The client was extremely satisfied and invited us to continue the project with more rooms in the building.

Materials used
